Tuffy Butler, age 58, passed away on Friday morning, May 11, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born to Francis “Sonny” Butler and Lois Catherine “Kitty” Butler on September 15, 1959. Tuffy was a lifelong resident of Norfolk, Va. He attended Norfolk public schools and graduated from Lake Taylor High School.
At the time of his passing, Tuffy was the Southside Director for James River Transportation. He had previously worked in the hotel business for 22 years. During that time, he chaired several committees including VHTA and NHMA. Due to his hard work and dedication, he received a Proclamation from the city of Norfolk for his service.
Tuffy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed and remembered by his beloved wife, Deborah “Deb” Butler; their two children, Dustan and Amber; their grandson, Kyle; brothers, James “Butch” Butler, Sam Butler (Brenda), and Patrick Butler (Joanne); sisters, Terry Spady (Rusty); Vanessa Hickman(Debra); and 9 nieces and nephews.
The family will gather to receive friends and celebrate his life at Wesley Grace United Methodist Church, 288 E. Little Creek Road, Norfolk Va. on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Please feel free to come in relaxed attire.
