Danja Maria Miller, born on February 27, 1955, in Hillsborough, Florida, passed away peacefully at her residence in Portsmouth, Virginia, on July 30, 2025, at the age of 70.
Danja was a dedicated and compassionate individual who touched the lives of many through her work and volunteer efforts. She served as an truck driver instructor for ATI, where she imparted her knowledge and skills to countless students. Her commitment to service extended beyond her professional life, as she was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving her country with honor for ten and a half years.
Her love for animals was evident in her volunteer work with Meow Power, where she cared for stray cats, and with the Portsmouth Humane Society. Her dedication to these causes reflected her generous spirit and deep compassion for all living creatures.
Danja was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), where she found camaraderie and support among fellow veterans. Her life was marked by service, kindness, and a steadfast dedication to her family and community.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Jack Melvin Ragsdale and Erika Sieglinde Rohsmann Ragsdale and eldest sister, Nancy Terrell . She is survived by her son, Josh Miller, and daughter, Karma-Jade Miller, as well as her sisters, Linda and Melody (Don), brother, Jack (Judy) and Nancy’s partner, Alan. She leaves behind several cherished nieces and nephews, along with her beloved pets, who brought her immense joy and companionship.
A private family celebration of Danja’s life will be held at a later date. A memorial service with military honors will be conducted at Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 10 a.m. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
