David Mitchell Childress, III, 69, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.  David was born on September 24, 1951 to David and Marian Childress.  He was a graduate of Princess Anne High School and a retiree of the City of Virginia Beach.

David was survived by his daughter Carrie Childress Latham and her husband Jeff Sr.  He was a grandad to Alyssa and Jeffery and a great grandad, “Ra-Rad”, to Dylan, Paisley, Arianna and Jackson Latham.  Also surviving are his brother Mike Childress, wife Cheryl and their sons Michael and Stephen.  In addition to being predeceased by his parents, he was also predeceased by his sister Glenda.

Dave was an avid deer hunter, loved baseball at Harbor Park and was a huge fan of Tony Stewart.  He took great pride in the up keep of his vehicles and also enjoyed spending time camping with family and treating others to ice cream where he earned the name “Ice Cream Man”.  He was also known to others as “City” and “Rocker”.

Future ceremonies will be scheduled at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in honor of Carrie Latham.
