David Noel Montrose was born May 21, 1936, and passed away on December 7, 2021 at his home at the age of 85. He was the son of Levi Montrose of Dominica, West Indies and Marie Bayley of Jamaica, West Indies. David was born in East Orange, New Jersey. The family lived in Montclair, New Jersey and moved to Amityville Long Island, New York when he was 10 years old. David graduated from Amityville High School and attended Morgan State University where he played football. He was an avid sports fan and passionate about the New York Giants.
David was employed by the Department of Defense at Fort Eustis VA as a computer network engineer. In this position he traveled to Europe, Central America, and throughout the U.S. He retired in 2002. David was a former employee of the New York City Post Office and New York City Transit System. As a photographer he worked for many Madison Avenue Companies in advertising. For many years he served as a chaplain at Riverside Hospital.
David was Master of Abercorn Lodge #66 in New York City. As a Shriner he served as Potentate at Medina Temple #19 in 1989. A devoted member of St. George Episcopal Church in Newport News, he held many positions and served as Senior Warden twice.
He is a survived by his beloved wife, Marie Elizabeth Montrose; three daughters, Shelly Montrose, Lynn Montrose, Judith Roberts; son-in-law, Raymond Roberts; two stepchildren, Daniel Soto and wife, Enid Dawn Soto, and Patricia Lewes; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Service will be December 18th at 1:00 PM at
St. Andrews Episcopal Church
