David Omer Brandt, 78, entered the church triumphant on March 1, 2018. David was born on April 7, 1939 in Seymour, IN to the late Victor Elmer and Zona Lucille (Hunt) Brandt.

After serving 3 ½ years in the U.S. Air Force, David earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Old Dominion University. He retired from the Defense Financial Accounting Service (DFAS) – Norfolk office and from the U.S. Navy Reserves.

He is survived by his wife, Malvern, son, Chris (Deanne), daughter, Valerie Shah (Bhairav), grandchildren Brandon Murphy, Jacob and Aiden Brandt, Ravi Shah, step-grandchildren Justin Burns and Amber Hatfield, sister, Debbie Morris (Dave), brother-in-law John Saavedra and many nephews and nieces. His first wife and the mother of his son, Sandra W. Brandt, also survives him. He was preceded in death by his brother Leland “Rusty” Brandt and his sister Joanna Morrison.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, April 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church (3900 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23452). A Celebration of Life will be held at the church on Saturday, April 14 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church or the Virginia Beach SPCA (3040 Holland Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23453).
