Delores “Dee” Rose Medley (née Butler) passed away peacefully on January 24, 2023 at 7:29 p.m. at age 65. She lived in Virginia Beach, but was born and raised in Creedmoor, NC. She graduated from South Granville High School in 1975. She worked as a financial counselor at UNC, Duke, and Sentara hospital until she retired in 2017.

She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Elijah Kearney Medley, for 33 years. They were married on November 4, 1989 at First Baptist church in Creedmoor. She had her daughter, Elizabeth, on March 17, 1993, which she said was her dream come true. She loved to cook and take care of her family, to whom she was deeply committed. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, an amazing cook, loved to collected anything that had a rooster on it, loved pink, and the I Love Lucy show.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Sophie Elizabeth Boyd and Dale Butler; her biological parents, Bonnie Nora Bass and Iverson C. Bass; and her siblings, Mary Carpenter and William “Bill” Bass. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Elijah Kearney Medley; daughter, Elizabeth Jean Medley; grandson, Elijah Iverson Medley; and siblings: Jean Finch, Johnny Bass, Brenda Rogerson, and Joyce Miller.

Her memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Antioch Baptist Church in Timberlake, NC. She brought light and Joy to everyone she knows and everyone she met loved her. She was loved by so many and will truly be missed. Condolences may be offered at www.vacremationsociety.com.
