Dennis Mack, 76, passed away on January 10, 2022, at his residence in Hampton, Virginia. Dennis was born in DuBois, PA in 1945 and graduated from Penn State in 1967. After graduation, he married Diane, the love of his life. He then went on to serve his country in the Army where he trained as a linguist, spoke five languages, and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer. After he retired from the military, he worked at Ft Monroe as a Civil Servant for over 20 years, eventually retiring a second time. Once fully retired, he and his wife traveled, not only the United States but the world, visiting countless countries, always with a soft spot for Thailand. Dennis was also an avid motorcycle rider. His love of bikes began at the age of 15 and lasted his entire life. He rode across Europe, Asia, South America, and 49 of the 50 US States (damn Alaska!). Always known by his friends and family for his intelligence, integrity, character, quick wit, and ability to enjoy a good laugh over a cold hefeweizen. He loved his family and friends beyond measure and was the best Pop Pop in the whole wide world. He loved dogs and also enjoyed a good cup of coffee while he worked on his crossword puzzle in pen and apple pie with a dash of milk.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Diane; his children, Devlin (Ryan) McCauley, Daniel (Katherine) Mack, and Desra (Justin) Hohlbein; his grandchildren, Tristan, Spencer, and Morgan McCauley, Quincy, Lenix, and Tallulah Mack, Isla, Lorelei, and Rook Hohlbein; and his brother Thomas Mack.
His passing has left a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. There is no memorial service at this time, his final resting place will be Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. It is not how you die, but rather how you live that matters, and he lived a life full of adventure and love.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” We love you, until forever!
