Dewayne passed away on August 29, 2019, after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents Viola and Alfred Freeman and his brother, Alfred Freeman.

A memorial service will be held in honor of his life on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at at 1:00 pm. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Dewayne Freeman Memorial Fund to: 315 Roland Street, Williamsburg, Va. 23188.

Knew him at State his room right above mine in prillerman hall. Great basketball player and every time they won the Impressions "We're a Winner" blasted from the dorm room. even today when i hear that song i think of him putting that ball down in the in center court and walking off with 2 seconds left.
