Dorothy V. Lee passed away on January 15, 2022 at 4:33 a.m. in Norfolk, VA. Dorothy was born on March 23, 1944 in Roanoke, VA to Mary Jane and Walter Yates. She was a graduate of American Home Study out of Chicago. Dorothy worked as a Christian teacher at Open Door Christian Academy. She was married to her first love, Carlton Fuqua, for 17 years, with whom she had three beautiful children: Margaret, Julie, and Dwayne. Dorothy married Larry Lee on February 17, 1978.

Dorothy loved to play bingo and do word puzzles for hours. She was a devout Christian and loved her relationship with the Lord. She always put everyone else’s needs or wants before her own. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Mary Jane and Walter Yates; both of her spouses, Carlton Fuqua and Larry Lee; and her son, Dwayne Fuqua. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Margaret Kirkland and Julie Fuqua; her grandchildren: Ashley Kirkland, Michelle Bainbridge, James Fuqua, and Jessica Fuqua; her great-grandchildren: Aidan Anderson, Liana Fuqua, Hope Bainbridge, Jaylen Fuqua, Brayden Bainbridge, Mason Franklin, Colt Franklin, Jazlynn Fuqua, and Milo Fuqua; her siblings: Darlene Rogers, Janie Yates, Carl Yates, Walter Yates, and Selena Guynn; and her two best friends: Joyce Duncan who she has known since elementary school, and Beverly Hutcheson, who she has known since 1973.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Open Door Chapel at 3177 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
