Douglas Aubrey Newbill, 61, of Hampton was called home by the Lord early Wednesday, February 1st, 2023. He fought a fierce battle but, in the end, he stepped through the door when Heaven knocked. Doug was born August 17, 1961 in Newport News. He grew up in Newport News and graduated from Ferguson High School in 1979.
From a young age, Doug was fascinated with motors and everything automotive. He parlayed that into a career in automotive repair; earning the designation of ASE Certified Master Mechanic. He also worked for Hampton City Schools, networking all of the public schools.
Doug is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Nellie (Jones) Newbill. He is survived by his wife Lesa Robinson Newbill of Hampton, his daughter Abigail Newbill and his grandson Camden Paul both of Hampton, his stepson Graham Davis and his granddaughter Samantha Nicole both of Chester and his stepdaughter Victoria Davis of Easley, SC as well as his sister Cynthia Bloxom (Scott) of Newport News. Doug will be missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as many in-laws.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, February 18 at Crooks Memorial United Methodist Church, 204 Cook Road, Yorktown VA 23690 with a reception following.
