Earick Gilliard was born on February 11, 1970 in Charleston, SC to the late Henry Gilliard and Annamae Williams.
Earick, also known as Shorty Moe, only lived for a brief time in South Carolina before moving to Brooklyn, NY and attending Public School 221 and LaFayette Middle. He then moved to Norfolk, VA and remained there until his passing. He graduated from Maury High School.
Earick had numerous jobs after high school: server, prep cook, construction worker, painter, preparing meals for friends and family, and demolition work. Work came easy to Earick and he loved the experience he gained from each new task. He especially took great pride and enjoyment from his experience in demolition and maintained that position the longest.
Earick was always the life of the party. His smile and laughter could fill a room and there was never a dull moment when he was around. We will always remember Earick as a free spirit. We never knew which way the wind blew him but we always knew he would come back to family. He loved his family and enjoyed every minute he could spend with them.
Left to cherish his memory are his sisters: Cathy Williams, Renea Fields, Chervail Fields; brothers: Larry Williams, Robert Williams, Ronald Fields, Nathan Gilliard; aunt, Gary Lee Lee; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Please join the family in honoring Earick Gilliard at his visitation and service on Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations, located at 5401 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach 23464.
