Earnest Elwood Bland, 74, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021, in Sentara VA Beach General Hospital. Born in Tarboro, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Elwood T. Bland and Nora Meeks Bland.

Earnest retired after 30 plus years as a Utility Mechanic from Navy Public Works.

Earnest was survived by his wife, Jacqueline Hensley Bland of 57 years; his son, Ernest Scott Bland and his wife, Renette of Norfolk, their 2 children, Heather and Weston, and their great-grandson, Xander; and his daughter, Wendy Bland Boyd and her husband, Jon of Norfolk, and their 2 children, McKenzy and Hunter. Also left to cherish his memory are his three brothers, Gene, Cecil, and Wayne and his three sisters, Edna, Mary Ann, and Minnie, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Earnest enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Ocean View Golf Course. He also enjoyed fishing in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 1:00 – 4:00 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Norfolk.  You may visit VACremationSociety.com to share memories and condolences with the family.
