Eileen Morrisey Baker, 77, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of January 29,2019. She was able to transition peacefully with her family by her side.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters – Diana, Suzanne, Tammy and Kerry, her 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Born on March 9,1941 in Bronx, NY, she was the only daughter and last surviving child of the late Maurice Leo Morrisey and Mary Agnes (Smith) Morrisey.

Eileen was raised in Fairfield, CT. She was a self-professed  tomboy who loved climbing trees and her childhood dog, Buttons.

Eileen was a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in CT and VA and worked tirelessly at Park City Hospital, Bridgeport Hospital and private duty assignments for most of her life. In addition to nursing, she was a licensed Hairdresser in both states. With a delicate touch and earnest desire to help, she was well-suited for the “caring” professions.

Eileen maintained a close relationship with God throughout her life. She was a lecturer at Saint Pius X Church and a member of St Gregory the Great and Holy Family Church in Virginia Beach.

Eileen loved taking walks/hikes, family meals and a good game of scrabble. But most of all, she relished the opportunity to spend time with her family.

Although petite in statute, her enthusiasm and energy was unmatched. This was especially true in regards to championing for her children and grandchildren. They were always the center of her universe.

Her legacy to her family is her fighting spirit. She was a consummate fighter. From day One, when she was born with her umbilical cord around her neck – to her last breath, she never relented. She came from strong “overcomer” stock. That “fighting  Irish” spirit sustained her through many difficult obstacles in life. She did not go gentle into that good night.

A Celebration to honor Eileen’s life will be held on her birthday, March 9, 2019.
