“Betty Anne” Landon, 83, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 22, 2026, in her home with her daughter and son by her side holding her hands and telling her how much they loved her. She had been battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia for years, never complaining. Her strength and courage were inspiring. Betty Anne is predeceased in death by her parents and her brother, William P. Landon Jr. She is survived by her children, Anne “Landon” Coleman and Christopher Alan Hall; her brother, Joseph C. Landon; and her four grandchildren, Hayden, Grace, Kennedy, and Max. She was like a second mother to her niece, Stacy, and adored by her children, siblings, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and all those that knew her.
Betty Anne grew up in Williamsburg where she made lifelong friends. She later lived in Richmond and then moved to Virginia Beach where she raised her children and was the best mom a child could ask for. After her children had grown, she went back to work in human resources at Ecolochem, which later became part of General Electric, where she was loved by her many co-workers. She gave countless hours of her time over the past 46 years volunteering for Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters Caritas Circle. She was also involved with ODU Monarch Community Alliance. She had a full social calendar- always loving her Book Club, playing Bunco, and spending time with her Back to Lunch Bunch group. She had so many friends that all loved her dearly. She was a devoted mother and “Mimi” or “Mimster” to her grandchildren. She always thought of others before herself and was a bright light with a smile that could light up a room, a great listener, the most thoughtful, caring, selfless person, and the best role model to her children and grandchildren.
Some of her favorite things to do were spending time with her family, walking her faithful dog Snickers, watching a beautiful sunrise or sunset, enjoying a fabulous meal, a good Margarita and/or Bloody Mary at one of her favorite local spots, listening to Billy Joel, and playing Candy Crush on her iPad.
She was the sun around which our family revolved and we will miss her deeply as long as we live.
A private celebration of life will be held for Betty Anne at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Morgan’s Reach / SMA Proud, P.O. Box 68181, Virginia Beach, VA 23471.
