Elizabeth Leigh Wilde, affectionately known as Liz, has taken her final bow at the age of 54. Born and raised in Newport News, she made her grand entrance on November 30, 1970, and passed in the same beloved city on August 24, 2025.
Liz was a woman who lived life with the volume turned up. Known to rage against the man, she was never one to back down from a cause she held dear. Her love of music, concerts, and movies was legendary, and she could often be found front row at any event that promised a good tune or a gripping scene.
Growing up surrounded by water, Liz had an affinity for the beach and surfing, proving time and again that she was part mermaid. Her childhood was spent attending Temple Baptist Church.
Liz is preceded in death by her grandparents and many friends who passed ahead of her, and are now greeting her in the afterlife. She leaves behind a loving family who will miss her dearly: James L. Forrest, her father; Lisa P. Center, her mother; Amanda Center, her sister; and David Center, her brother.
A private service will be held by her family, allowing them to celebrate her life and legacy. Though she may have left the stage, her spirit will surely continue to echo through the halls of those who knew and loved her.
Rest easy, Liz. May the music always play on and the waves be ever in your favor.
