Ellen Kay Crockford, 81, of Virginia Beach was called up to the Lord in the early morning of June 18, 2024. Born in New London, CT she was preceded in eternal rest by her father, Herbert George Heller and her mother Mary Heller. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Richard T. Crockford, Sr; her three sons Richard T. Crockford Jr.  and his wife Soja, Kevin P. Crockford and his wife Jennifer, Michael D. Crockford and his wife Crystal.

She was loved by her grandchildren Addison, Kayleigh, Michael, Mackenzie, Ryan, Ariel, Reagan and her great granddaughter Felicity.

Besides being a mother, Ellen was a Navy Wife for 22 years. She was an avid animal lover. She was a veterinarian technician, a Federally licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator. A family friend once said of her, “if I come back to this world, I want to be a wounded critter being nursed back to health at Ellen’s!”

Ellen was a member of the VFW post 4809 Women’s Auxiliary for over 20 years. She enjoyed cooking, reading, shopping, and being involved in her family’s life.

Funeral services will be private.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers please provide donations to the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeastern Virginia or Pet Assistance League of Virginia.
