VIRGINIA BEACH – Evelyn “Eve” Alice Skinner passed away peacefully on November 29, 2017. She was born on June 28, 1928, to William and Mae Chambers, in Naples, Illinois, and was predeceased by her parents, as well as her husband of 61 years, CAPT Glenn E. Skinner, Jr. USN, Retired. Eve was a registered nurse and a true Navy wife. While moving to different duty stations across the country and the globe, she was a member of various Military Wives Clubs and supported her children’s many activities. After her husband’s retirement, she was active in the Suburban Woman’s Club and Bayside Hospital Auxiliary where she served as President in both organizations, and Bayside Presbyterian Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Glenna Skinner, Beth Skinner (Caren), Jim Skinner (Rose), and Nancy Skinner Woodhouse (Bill); grandchildren: Jarrett Bailey (Lauren), Sarah Woodhouse Ray (Justin), John Skinner, and Greg Woodhouse; great grandsons: Dawson and Harper Bailey. She is also survived by her brothers: Frank Chambers (Doris) of Texas, and Jim Chambers (Jean) of Illinois, and countless family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Westminster-Canterbury for their loving care and support, and all her friends, old and new.
A memorial service will be held December 23, 2017 at the WestminsterCanterbury Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with a reception immediately following in the Anderson Bayview Room. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
