Faith Alma Nichols Dew
Faye/Plumpsie
On November 5, 2021, at 11:26 PM, Faith joined our mother, grandmothers, and ancestors to begin a new journey in their embrace.
Faith was born on October 1, 1958, to parents, G. Marjorie Sivills Nichols and Clifton Frank Nichols, grandparents, Alma Estelle Williams Sivills and Cecil Sivills, Mary Jane Basnight Nichols and Frank Clifton Nichols, sister, Dawn, and a multitude of aunts, unclesand cousins.
Faye grew up in South Norfolk (Wilmund Place), spending lots of time in Money Point and Buzzard’s Row (If you’re old South Norfolk, you know these two places.) celebrating holidays and Sundays with family. Plump grew to be a quiet, determined, compassionate, talented young woman who played flute in the Smith High band, and sang in First Baptist Money Point and Holy Temple Pentecostal Church choirs.
It was at Holy Temple that she met her husband, Melvin D. Dew, and became Mother to the loves of her life, L’il Melvin and Charone. Faith doted on her children, and they doted on their mama in good times and in the time of her years-long illness. Plumpsie also loved traveling to see different places and the things that made them special, dolphins, and that Starbucks Java Chip Frappuccino!
Faith leaves to celebrate her life husband, Melvin D. Dew, Sr., daughter, companion, and caretaker, Charone Janel Dew, and son, Melvin D. Dew, Jr., all of Suffolk, VA, sister, Dawn J.N. Linsey (Brando, Sr.), also of Suffolk, VA, brothers, Clifton D. Nichols (Penny) of Huntsville, AL and Cecil S. Nichols of Irvine, CA, special nephew, Juneau (DeShawna), nephews Cameron, Christian and Christopher, niece, Cydney, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Our ancestors rejoice because our wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend has come back to them and stepped into their embrace. We who are left behind are grateful to have shared her life for a season.
