George Peyton Phillips, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 87. Born on June 17, 1938, in Lynchburg, Virginia, George lived a life marked by dedication to family, service, and personal interests.
George served honorably in the United States Air Force for several years, embodying the values of duty, integrity, and resilience. After his military service, he transitioned into a successful career as a Healthcare Executive with Riverside Hospital, where he was known for his leadership and commitment to improving patient care.
George had a passion for fishing and found great joy in casting a line into the water, embracing the tranquility and serenity it brought him. He was also an avid reader, often found with a book in hand, exploring different worlds through the written word.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Manie Phillips. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Brenda Phillips, and children Heather Anne Phillips, and James Michael Phillips along with his wife, Karen. George was a proud grandfather to Lauren Phillips Tidman, Callum Wall, Dylan Etheridge, Katelyn Torres, and Sydney Pollard, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.
