I was saddened to learn of Graydon's passing. I knew Graydon through his brother Steven who has been a life long friend of mine. I recall Graydon as being a kind and gentle person. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family in this time of sorrow.

Graydon and his family were neighbors of mine for most all of my younger years. He was the same age as my brother, and we all hung around together. Ingleside was a war baby community, and there were a lot of boys in our neighborhood. There was always something going on and Graydon and Steven were always up for having fun with the rest of us.
Graydon took up surfing just like his older brother did and he was a natural. We all started out with the long boards, but when the younger kids started using the shorter boards, Graydon decided to switch. He mastered the short board, while we stuck to our longer ones. He was good enough with the short board that he had the Wave Riding people custom make him a board. He enjoyed many day trips to the Outer Banks trying to find the perfect wave. He, like the rest of us, had to eventually give up the sport due to age and physical limitations. Graydon was not only a talented craftsman, but he was also an accomplished surfer.
Graydon, may the sun always shine, and the waves always be perfect for you. You will be missed by all of us.
