Guy Rathbone Wilson, Jr., 84, a native of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025. He was born on June 21, 1941, to Marion and Guy Rathbone Wilson, Sr.
In June of 1964, Guy married the love of his life, Martha. Their story began when Martha asked her older brother, Charlie, to convince his roommate, Guy, to escort her to the prom. Though Charlie reluctantly agreed to ask, Guy simply said, “Yeah, I can do that.” That special night marked the beginning of a lifelong love story of 62 years. Behind the wheel of his 1962 Corvette, Guy often gathered with friends at the 5 Mile Stretch in Princess Anne County to drag race. He held numerous trophies from his years of “legal” drag racing.
Together, Guy and Martha moved to Athens, Georgia, where he attended the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy— always a proud Bulldog, “Go Dawgs!” While in Athens, their precious daughter Gibson was born, bringing them great joy.
Guy worked as a pharmacist in Chesapeake, Virginia, and became a partner in Ski World, Virginia Beach, where he built strong friendships and shared his love of community. A passionate skier, he enjoyed traveling across the country to experience the slopes, a joy that became one of his lifelong pursuits. One of his prized accomplishments was catching an award-winning sailfish in the Chesapeake Bay, which was once proudly displayed by Guy in their home.
Guy is survived by his beloved wife Martha; their daughter, Gibson; granddaughter, Lauren; his brother, Ray (Cheryl); brother-in-law, Larkin Tysor (Janet); sister-in-law, Anna Tysor; as well as many friends and family who will forever remember his kindness.
He was predeceased by his parents, Marion and Guy Rathbone Wilson, Sr.; brother-in-law, Charles Tysor; and mother-in-law, Sarah “Mammie” Tysor.
Guy was described by many as a true gentleman—gracious, humble, and devoted to those around him. His family takes comfort knowing he is now in the loving arms of Jesus.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
