I knew Bob truax, his brother Dave, and spent a Xmas with Scott and his family, and Heidi and her family, as well as enjoying a Disney cruise with 11 family members. They were a loving and happy group. My condolences on your loss. Heidi was brave in her illness.

I am writing to the Radam family now, only because I will not be able to physically attend Heidi's service to express my feelings in person. I would love to come and hug you all and tell you (again) what a wonderful wife, mother or friend she was. But you know that already. Even though Heidi struggled for years with her illness and subsequent transplantation surgery, she did not give up, or complain. She was always the same effervescent lover of life and family. As Heidi's uncle, I have had the distinct pleasure of knowing her for 56 of her 57 years. I first met Heidi in July of 1963, when I came to live in McLean, VA with her parents, Robert and Patti Truax. My brother "Bob" became my temporary custodial parent, mentor and best friend during the year I spent at McLean High School. At that time, Heidi was just over one year old, and her brother Alan Scott was a baby. Because of them, I learned how to feed, diaper and love them both. I was 16 at the time, and exposed to a completely different life than I had growing up in Minnesota. I still vividly remember many events and daily activities from my stay in McLean and Falls Church. I believe Heidi's first word was "Cott", which shows that she was mesmerized by her baby brother (and forever more, Alan became known by his middle name Scott). Heidi was full of giggles and smiles, even then. I returned to Minnesota in 1964, but was able to visit several times in ensuing years. In one memorable event, I arrived at the Truax home in Brunswick, Maine on Easter morning when Heidi and Scott were only 7-8 years old. In what seemed like a minute later, I was at Heidi's beautiful wedding to Bob...where she started a whole new chapter of her life. While we were all separated by a couple thousand miles, we were still able to keep in touch through the years. Notably, due to the efforts of Bob and Patti Truax, we had a couple of fantastic vacations together in Tybee Island GA. There, I got a chance to meet and know Heidi and Bob's three children, "Happ", Walter and "Katie". Later still, we all experienced together the painful passing of Heidi's parents Patti, then Bob Truax. Through the passing of time, we all met at both happy and sad times. Even after Heidi's operation, she stayed in touch, and even arranged a fishing trip to Florida...just showing her great resilience. I will miss Heidi, but will always remember the happy times and happy smiles we had over that 56 years. Wishing much love future meetings. "Uncle Dave"

I am saddened to hear of Heidi's passing. I co- taught with her at Syms Middle School in Hampton. She was a vibrant teacher and brought much energy to all of her classes. Students with disabilities were fortunate to have her teach them as she had magic up her sleeves to present math concepts. Heidi always made me smile and I will miss her deeply.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I taught many years at Great Neck Middle School. She was on the other side of the science prep room for several years. She was always so upbeat and full of great stories about her life. She was a proud mother of her 3 children. She will be missed by so many but she sure put up a great fight during some difficult health years. May she rest in peace.

I was so sad to hear about Heidi’s passing! She was such an incredible math teacher who not only had high expectations for her students, but taught in a way that ensured their understanding of the subject! One could always find a student at GNMS who might comment about how hard Mrs. Radam was, but also about how smart she was with math and how much they learned in her class! Using her own children as an example, she told me that “time between babies enabled you to enjoy ‘babyhood’ with each child!” She was so right! Though I haven’t seen her in years, she left a wonderful and passionate impression on my life! Heartfelt prayers for her children, her husband, and her entire family! No doubt her legacy will live on in all who love her!
