Jack Eugene Guentz, 70, of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away suddenly on November 9, 2021 at VCU Medical Center Hospital. He was born December 29, 1950 in China Lake, California, where his father, Jack E. Guentz, a career Naval Officer and graduate of the United States Naval Academy, was stationed.
Jack proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1972-1977 as a law-enforcement specialist. He was a career uniformed officer in the United States Park Police for the National Park Service from 1977 until his retirement in 2005, serving in that unit’s horse-mounted patrol. From 2005 until his death, Jack enjoyed a second career as a costumed interpreter for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. He loved meeting visitors and regaling them with stories of his time spent in the Colonial Capitol.
Jack was predeceased by his father and survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Barbara Floyd; mother, Ivajean Dollarhide Guentz; sister, Lynda Hapgood (Jim); sister, Laura Christensen; brother, Robert Guentz; sister-in-law, Linda Brandenburg (Jerry); and his nieces and nephews.
Jack was a friend of all that is good and never a stranger to anyone he met. There will be no visitation or service. Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the arrangements. A memorial remembrance gathering will be scheduled at a later date for friends and family to share their memories of Jack. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Animal Aid Society (www.animalaidsociety.org), or the charity of your choice.
