James is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Ullery Thompson. He is also survived by his daughter, Jennifer Smith and son, Brian Thompson and wife April; 5 grandchildren, Jacob, Matthew, and Emma Smith and Gavin and Camille Thompson; 2 great grandsons, Micah and Roman Smith and brothers Ernie and Russel. He is predeceased by his brother, Bobby Thompson.
James will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church 916 Centerville Turnpike N, Chesapeake, VA 23320 on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
