Rev. Dr. James Edwards, lll left a message on December 21, 2019:
My belated condolences to the family of my Pershing Rifle brother, Wink. Wink and I met in the early 1960's on the campus of Norfolk Division of Va. State College. He was pledging a military fraternity of which I was one of his big brother. We became friends and remained so thru the years even though we lost some contact after college. I wish I had known of his demise so that I and others could have paid our respects at his homegoing. Rest in peace " Wink . "

Wink Cotton was one of those special people that took you under his wing and breathed confidence and hope into your being. When I was a young man and uncertain of my steps through the world there was Wink. Larger than life and as confident as a sun rise. It’s through those moments that you glimpse your own strength and value. You grab a little more meaning out of life. Wink gave me my love for dogs. He and his beloved Duchess made me want a Doberman so bad that when she had puppies I had to have one. Through training Tiffany I learned so much about myself. I guess that sums up Wink. All of those moments really only taught you about yourself. Thanks Wink for believing in the possible in me. H White
