Janice Best Hobbs, 77, of Goldsboro, NC, passed away in Hospice House of Williamsburg on March 15, 2024.

Born February 14, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Rosa Best Greenfield. She joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Goldsboro, NC, at fifteen years of age. Janice graduated from Dillard High School and University of DC. She was a public school teacher in Amherst County Public Schools for thirty years, where she taught the first grade and positively impacted the lives of hundreds of children. Janice enjoyed walks on the beach, NBA Warriors’ games, gardening, and watching birds. She was an avid Christian and had great faith in God.

She was preceded in death by sister, Elizabeth Ann Lowman, and brother, Arthur Best. Janice is survived by her loving husband of forty-nine years, Dr. Jesse A. Hobbs, Jr. and her two children;
Dr. Janice Elizabeth Hobbs and Jesse A. Hobbs III and her sister, Shirley Scott.

A memorial service will be held on March 23, 2024 at 12:00pm at the Altmeyer Riverside Chapel in Newport News, VA 23607.
