Retired U.S. Master Chief Jason Murray Goldman passed away peacefully in his home on September 18, 2025. Jay was born on May 19, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York to Ben and Mildred Goldman. He graduated from Boston English High School in 1950 and went into the Navy where he served in peacetime and during the Korean and Vietnam campaigns until his retirement after 22 years. Jay was a volunteer with the Princess Anne Plaza Rescue Squad for three and a half years. He was ana active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Virginia Beach #3204 for almost 55 years, serving as Aerie President and was inducted into the Virginia State Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the FRA Branch 99 since 1974.
Jay is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Christie; son, Michael Goldman of Virginia Beach; daughter, Lennie Hooten of Virginia Beach; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Sidney; and stepson, Joseph Everett.
Jay spent the majority of his time for many years doing all that he could to help abused, handicapped, and needy kids through his efforts of raising funds and making donations to local groups including Seton Youth Shelter, Respite Children of Social Services, area needy families, and any place there was a need.
A memorial service in celebration of Jay’s life is being planned and details will be provided here once available.
