Jessica Shannon Prentiss Cleary was born May 20, 1984 to Jill Prentiss and Scott Gundlach in Norfolk, VA. Jessica passed away on November 5, 2019 in her home. She joins her precious baby Kaya in Heaven. In addition to Kaya, Jessica is preceded in death by her Grandparents William “Poppi” Prentiss and Marie Prentiss. Left to cherish her memory are her boys, Jackson and Joseph; the brightest lights of her life. She is survived by her Parents Jill Prentiss and Doug Atkins and Scott and Denise Gundlach and her Grandmother Pat Crane. Also surviving Jessica are her Siblings Scotty Gundlach, Alex Prentiss, Whitney Gundlach and Danyelle Gundlach Williams, her best friend Andy Cleary; as well as many loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends.

Jessica’s life will be celebrated on Monday November 11, 2019 at 2:00 pm. Forefront Church, 2520 Holland Road, Virginia Beach, VA

Oh Jessi, we met at Baylake Pines Elementary as little girls & played together often. I remember even then thinking how sweet you were. As we got older we lost touch, then reconnected during the Duburbia days. After that I didn’t see you anymore but we talked a lot over FB & text in recent years. I know life got hard for you but you never gave up and you loved those boys continuously and unconditionally. I will be praying for your family during this time of unimaginable grief. My husband, who you knew, just passed at 37 so I know all too well the void they are feeling. I hope you are together in heaven with Jay and Tim, we will see you again one day. All my love.

Shirl and I would like to send our deepest sympathies out to Jill and her family. I met Jessica a few times. She always had a big smile on her face. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Our Thoughts and Prayers will be with Jill and her family.

Hearing of Jessica's passing hurt me deeply. I met Jessica a little less than 4 years ago. She became a great friend! She was so caring and friendly. When I was in need of work she passed along good leads, when she needed assistance I helped her out a few times. I even recall a selfie taking lesson she gave me via facebook I will always remember with warm feelings and happy thoughts. My point is we had both made a friend for life, all that we had in common the experience that brought us together. And it seemed that was all we needed. I will always have a beautiful memory of Jessica. I will not be able to make the celebration in her honor but I will have a ton of bright and sparkly memories to think about and cherish for the rest of my days! My sympathies, condolences, loves and, prayers go out to the family left behind.

I am very saddened by this as just two weeks ago I was so happy to see you, Jess, looking so well and happy with a great attitude toward the future. You are a very good friend and I hope you are now at peace.

I had the pleasure of helping raise Jackson, Joseph, and Kaya I loved the way Jessica and Andy loved their babies. Jessica will always be in my heart for she survived one of the hardest trials in this life saying goodbye to your baby. I loved being a part of the boys life and I wish them peace and comfort and Gods grace and mercy..Jill I also keep you in my prayers and wish the same for your entire family.

I am so deeply saddened by this news . Jessica’s aunt Debbie was my best friend in high school and we have remained friends even though I have been in Florida for 40 years , My heart goes out to the whole family and my prayers and love .
