John Bishop Brewington, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away on Friday, January 26th at the age of 87.
He was born in Philidelphia, PA, and was the youngest of his siblings, Allen Brewington and Betty Deal. John was in the Marine Reserves from 1938-1939. He traveled the country with his family, and he retired from NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) after 38 years of service. He was an active member of the Freemasons and Mooselodge of Virgina Beach. As well as the patriarch of the Brewington family.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Allen Brewington; sister, Betty Deal; and son, Raymond Brewington.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Brewington; children, John Brewington Jr., Allen Brewington, Jane Cummings, Robert Brewington, Michael Brewington and Kevin Brewington. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3rd from 4-6 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that everyone cracks a Budweiser in his memory.

Praying for the family. Worked under John when he was chief Yeoman at NOAA on the MT MITCHELL. He was a great person that I learned a great deal from, had a great personality, and was most respected and admired by everyone who knew him. I loved the way he dealt with everything.
