John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years Rosalyn Marie Johnson Russell.
He was the 6th of 7 children. He is survived by Brothers: Robert (Jacqueline) Russell of Hampton, VA; Wilfred (Rita) Russell Newport News, VA; Akin (Missy) Russell of Norwich, Connecticut; Sisters: Ruth Russell of Newport News VA; and Jewel (Keith) Stanly of Hampton VA. One Maternal Aunt, Bertha Ricks of Portsmouth VA. John had a host of beloved Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and his Spiritual Beloved Family all were very important to him and were always greeted with a big smile and a Hug!
A memorial is planned but no date is set as of yet. Will acknowledge soon.
