John McBride, 82, passed away Wednesday, June 19^th, 2024, in Chesapeake, Virginia.  He was born to Edward and Genevieve McBride on September 5^th, 1941, in New York City, New York.

John made a career in the US Navy and retired after 21 years of service as a Chief.  Throughout his life, he had 3 children Erin, John Jr., and Kenny with his first wife Elaine.  He was an amazing stepfather to three other children, Robert, Michael, and Greg with his second wife Susan.

In his spare time, he was an avid golfer and had the joy of meeting one of his golf idols, Jack Nicholas.  He won several tournaments and continued to play golf into his late 70’s.  He constantly tried to get his kids to play but they thought golf was for old people.  As adults, some of us now enjoy the game and had the pleasure of playing with John and seeing his frustration when we were horrible at the game, but he still got joy in seeing us enjoy the game he loved his whole life.

There will be no service as we respect John’s wishes.  He has asked to be cremated and to have his ashes spread in the Caribbean Sea.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in the name of John McBride, as these were some of his favorite charities.
