I am saddened to learn of Major Alicea’s illness and passing. He was my Flight Commander at OTS in 1982. He was a good and decent man. He was the first Puerto Rican I had ever met. I searched for him over the years to let him know that I had married a Puerto Rican and that our four children are half Puerto Rican! One of my favorite memories was that if written work was not up to standard, he would return it with CaCa written in big red letters! My condolences to Mrs. Alicea and the family.

A good and decent man who was a leader of men and women. MAJ Alicea was my flight commander at OTS in 1982. He challenged me and made me better. His positive impacts on my life still remains. May he rest in peace.

Hearing this news shattered my heart that day. Talking to Joe was always one of the highlights of any day. While I was the "victim" of a few of Joe's stories, I loved hearing them despite me being on the pointy end of the humor. As with many military friendships, we went our separate ways shortly after meeting, but continued to cross paths across the decades. I always knew when I saw Joe, I was going to get a huge smile, a warm welcome, and a fond conversation about those we knew in common. My deepest condolences to Felice and the family. Joe was loved by all.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of my brother Joe. We were OTS teammates and roomies and he was my best friend in the world. The antics that we got into during that time as well as the lasting close friendship with he and Felice with my late wife Judi and I will always will reside in my heart. Joe was a true patriot as well as an accomplished military officer who set the standard for us all. His pioneering efforts in the area of space operations set the stage for the newest military branch, the US Space Force. He influenced countless young officers when he was an instructor at the USAF Officer Training School through which his legacy will carry on. I will be placing a memorial stone in his honor at the Lake Ashton Veterans Association Memorial Walk of Honor in front of the USAF headstone. My sincere love and condolences go out to Felice (remember the pocket incident ;) ) along with the entire family. To my brother...Joe...love ya man and always..."Aim High" .

Our sincere condolences to the Alicea Family for their loss. Joseph was a kind and selfless individual who always stood for and acted upon "the right thing". In my years of working for him, he has taught me quite a bit about "life things". God Bless the Alicea Family. From the "Rebel Outpost" - Joseph and Kathleen Page
