Newport News- Joyce Lavender Watkins, 59, went to be with the Lord on December 7, 2020. She was born in Newport News, VA to Evelyn and Clyde Lavender. Joyce was proceeded in death by her father, Clyde Lavender; mother, Evelyn Lavender; brothers, Gene Lavender, Jerry Lavender, Donald Lavender, and her sister, Tammy Lavender Denham.

Joyce was a devoted Christian who loved to read her bible. She lived life to the fullest. She loved soaking in the sun and listening to the ocean. She also loved to listen to music and always had a sweet tooth. Her co-workers and customers at Hot Dog King were like a second family.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Shannon Lavender and her husband, Robert Edmonds, Fame Lavender and Ashley Lavender; her grandchildren, Austin Edmonds, Isabella and Michael Walden, with whom she loved with all her heart; sisters Juanita Hedgebeth, Brenda D’Antoni, and her brother, John Lavender along with numerous nieces and nephews and many beloved friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hot Dog King and Bernard, better known as Barney, we can’t say enough thanks.

A memorial will be held at an upcoming date to be determined.
