We are sad to announce that on November 2, 2021, at the age of 74, Joyce K. Lord passed peacefully. Joyce was born May 1947 to the late Herbert Donald Jones and Cora Elizabeth Jones in Coeburn, Virginia.  She graduated from Coeburn High School.

Joyce enjoyed traveling to Chincoteague Island to see the wild horses. Her passion was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a loving wife and mother and will be dearly missed.

She leaves to cherish her memory to her husband of 54 years Robert H. Lord Jr., her children, Crystal Lord Morrison, Robert H. Lord III, Mark Lord and his wife Brandi, Amber Lord-Listen and her husband Michael, Michael Lord and his wife Sarah. Her grandchildren Daemon Guill, Aaron Morrison and his wife Leslie, Kayla Bates, Jacob Blackmer, Elizabeth Lord, Michael Allen Lord Jr., Matthew Lord, and Skylar Listen. Her great grandchildren Alessa, Lucas, Aria, Lilah, and Alayah. Also surviving is her brother Michael Jones and his wife Rita and sister-in- law Lenior Jones. Proceeding with her in death is her brother Herbert Donald Jones II.

A memorial service will be determined at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joyce’s memory may be made to Virginia Chincoteague Island Pony Rescue Inc. Donations can be made at http://www.chincoteagueponyrescue.org/.  Please add a message in honor of Joy Lord.  Any amount you give will be appreciated for caring for the non- adoptable older horses and some of the ponies.  Since Covid, the funds have been low.
