Julie Ann Roberge-Singh (Powers), born on August 8, 1945, in the Borough of Metuchen, NJ, passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on December 29, 2025, in Newport News, VA. She spent many years in Rhode Island, and then moved to Virginia, where she had lived for the past 15 years. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many with her spirit, energy, and goodwill.
Julie dedicated much of the earlier part of her professional life to her role as an Administrative Assistant at Gilbane Building Company, where she was known for her diligence and commitment. Her work ethic and attention to detail were admired by colleagues and friends alike.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Julie found joy in spending time with family and friends. She was known for her warmth, her humor, and the way she made everyone around her feel welcomed, supported, and loved. Whether she was cooking, going out celebrating birthdays with friends, playing bingo in the community room, or dreaming of seeing Ireland one day, Julie enjoyed the small things in life. She was always willing to speak her truth and would speak up for those whose voices weren’t being heard. She will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Julia Powers (Pipik). She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Cade (Brian) and Victoria Clarke, and her four grandchildren.
A private celebration of life will be held at Lexington Commons at a later date to honor her memory. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to help the family with final expenses through Treasured Memories Funding
