Moyock, NC  –  Karen Lee Slagle, born on May 15, 1962, passed away on June 8, 2025, in Chesapeake, Virginia, at the age of 63.

Karen grew up in Southern, California, and lived most of her adult life in Mound, MN, where she worked as a data entry clerk for an insurance company.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lois Smith, and older sister Peggy Norgaard.

She is survived by her son, Jonathan Freitag; brother, Alan Smith and sister-in-law, Chere’ Smith; sister, Terry Smith and brother-in-law, Jeff Norgaard; nephews and nieces, Candace and Christopher Watkins, Melodie and Corey Anderson, Jaime Smith, Samantha Reynolds, and Ryan Odle.

Karen’s warmth, kindness, sense of humor, and love of animals left a mark on all of our lives. She will be forever loved and forever missed.
