Williamsburg-Kay F. Shook, 80, went to be with the Lord on August 24, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Andrews and Mary Hamrick Andrews; her loving husband of 53 years, Dennis M. Shook and son-in-law, Bill Iversen.
She was born in Goochland County, VA, but spent most of her life in Williamsburg. Kay and Dennis owned Country Grocery & Deli, on Jamestown Road, for 14 years. She also had been employed by The College of William and Mary and Williamsburg General Store. She was also known for her many wedding and birthday cakes that she made. Her hobbies were cooking, crafting, bird watching, but most of all, spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed orchids and loved to listen to gospel music.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Iversen of Williamsburg; son, David Shook (Lisa) of Surry and daughter, Donna Seay of Surry; grandchildren, Paula Corralejo (John), Allyson Honor (Jake), Hunter and Josh Shook; great-grandchildren, Savannah Corralejo and Harley Honor; extended family, Kyle McAllister (Kristen) and Emma and Westley, of Williamsburg and Kay’s beloved sister, Jane Beamer of Monroe N.C.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at First Simple Church, 16401 Chickahominy Bluff Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185 with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Cremation Society of Virginia-Newport News assisted the family with arrangements.
