Kenneth Fentress Jr., 81, of Norfolk, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026. Born on February 3, 1945, in Norfolk, Virginia, Kenneth lived a life defined by service, devotion to his family, and a sense of humor all his own.
Kenneth was a proud graduate of Fishburne military school and joined the United States Army in 1966. He was stationed in Italy for the majority of his military career, building lasting connections and memories that would tie his heart to both virginia and italy for the rest of his life.
He was the devoted husband of Sonia Fentress, and together they created a home known for its warmth and open door.
Anyone who walked through it knew they were welcome. family was everything to him.
Kenneth was a proud father to Kenneth Nash Fentress III and his girlfriend, Christina Tillman; Ilaria Pravisano and her husband, Marco Pravisano; Mark Fentress and his wife, Sara Fentress Person; and Eric Fentress and his wife, Michela Fentress Tappeto and adopted son Benjamin Wilson.
He was a loving grandfather to Elektra Fentress; Lucas and Amy Fentress; and Samuele, Mychelle, Maryanne, and Nikolas Pravisano. He also leaves behind cherished extended family in Italy. Kenneth was known for his dad jokes – the kind that made you laugh more at him
telling them than at the punchline itself.
He had the humor of an old man in a room full of young people, confidently delivering his jokes anyway. And somehow, that made them even better. Along with his humor, he was full of interesting facts and stories, always ready to share something you didn’t know.
More than anything, Kenneth will be remembered for the love he gave so freely and the safe, welcoming space he created for those around him. His presence was steady, his heart generous, and his home always open.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew him. Please post your fondest condolences on the Cremation Society of Virginia website.
