

Hampton, VA – Lawrence Franklin Cooke, 73, affectionately known as Lonnie, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, at Autumn Care in Suffolk, Virginia. Born on January 16, 1952, in Hampton, Virginia, Lonnie was a beloved son, brother, father, and friend.
Lonnie proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. Following his military service, he continued to contribute to his community through his work as Building Management with a US Government Contract at Ft. Eustis and Langley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Elwood Cooke, Sr. and Marjorie Mae Lattimore Cooke, as well as his sister, Barbara Jean Jordan. Lonnie leaves behind a loving family, including his children, Shaun, Jamal, Terrence, Raymond, and Cory; his brothers, Arthur “Buck” Cooke, Charles Cooke, and Herbert Cooke; his sister, Cassandra Anne; and many other cherished family members and friends.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Lonnie will be laid to rest with honor at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
Lonnie’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
