Newport News- Leonard Joseph Bonville, III lost his long battle with Cancer and other health problems on the evening of October 29, 2020. A native of Marlborough Connecticut , he led a good life, joined the Navy right out of high school, and came to Virginia and stayed.
He got married and has a stepson, Anthony Hines (wife, Amanda Hines) and they had a son, Jesse Bonville. Leonard then joined the Air Force Reserves. When he left the Air Force, he had been married twice and divorced and remarried and has step-daughters, Lee Ann Anderson, Venus Wright, Crystal Carlson (husband, Terrence Carlson). He is also survived by his parents, Leonard Joseph Bonville Jr. and Anna Marie Bonville; grandmother, Anna Marie Gernert; his wife, Victoria Bonville; sisters, Ann Marie Bonville and Madeline (Scott Lelesch) and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Leonard worked most of his life after the Navy as a marine mechanic. He went back to school and earned Bachelors and Masters Degree in History. He then joined up and gained diplomas in Numismatics. He was a member of the American Legion and had been with the Fleet Reserve for a period of time.
