Leonard Franklin Hall Sr., aged 85, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, in Virginia. Born on June 14, 1940, in California, Leonard lived a life marked by dedication and service.
A proud veteran, Leonard served his country with honor as a member of the United States Navy for 30 years. After retiring from his military career, he continued to serve his community through his work at the Post Office, from which he also retired.
Leonard was a man of many talents and interests. He possessed a deft hand and an eye for detail, which he expressed through woodworking, basket weaving, needlepoint, and leather working. Each piece he crafted bore testimony to his patience and skill. Those who knew him well also knew of his deep affection for his beloved dog, Tootsie, who was his constant companion.
A man of faith, Leonard was a devoted member of the Mattaponi Indian Baptist Church, where he found strength and community.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, Elaine and Lawrence. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Dorothy Hall, who stood by his side throughout his life. His legacy continues through his loving children, daughters Tonja O’Campo and Lennie Hall, and son Leonard Hall Jr. He was the proud grandfather of Sequoia R. O’Campo, Alexxis A. Friedhoff, Trey Hall, Aris Hall and Logan Madison , who will carry forward the values and love he imparted.
Leonard Franklin Hall Sr. will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his service, and his many creative endeavors. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
