Family and Friends of Lewis, I am so saddened to hear this news! What a loss. Lewis was such a bright Light. He was such a steady and positive friend and colleague during my two years at Friends. I’ll always remember his smile as he plopped down in an office chair for fellowship with math books in hand. The other strong memory I have is of the love and partnership he shared with Mary Pelham. What a model they are of a dynamic duo, what a gift they are for their leadership in our community. With fond memories and in celebration of Lewis”s life, Galen McNemar Hamann

Lewis was a good friend at VMI. He was always willing to help his Brother Rats in any way he could. Lewis, John Kemper and I teamed up for the "Escape and Evasion" Training Course at Fort Belvoir, Virginia in 1969. The "bad guys" never caught us, because we had Lewis "The White Fox" White on our side. God Bless All of Lewis' Family. Steve Powers, VMI Class of 1968.

I am a VMI classmate -- a Class of 1968 ":Brother Rat" -- and a swim teammate. I loved Lewis, for many reasons, but one big one was his fondness for mocking me with his sly sense of humor and that twinkle in his eye. He used to tell me that he didn't care about anything, when the truth was that he cared about everything and everyone. I already miss you, Lewis.
