Lyna Craft Eagan, 89, of Newport News, VA passed away on June 27, 2024 after a brief illness.

Lyna was born in Hamilton, Ohio on January 9, 1935 to James and Callie Craft. She later married Donald Eagan on October 10, 1959 in Louisville, KY.

In the summer of 1954, she was contacted by Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized on December 18, 1954. She was a faithful servant of Jehovah for seven decades. Lyna was known as a Bible teacher who loved God’s Word, helping nearly 20 individuals to learn about her heavenly Father. Over the years, Lyna loyally served her God, Jehovah, and was a member of the Oyster Point Congregation for almost thirty years.

Lyna was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Don Eagan, and her son, Jesse Eagan.

She is survived by her son, Lance and his wife, Linda; her son, Shawn and his wife, Amy; three grandchildren, Sara Reimold (Chad), Heather Griggs (David) and Ryan (Thea); and seven great-grandchildren, Claire, Micah, Atlan, Corbin, Piper, Rosemary and Leif.

She is also survived by two brothers, Columbus Craft and Martin Craft and many other family members.

The family wishes to thank all who were able to provide loving-kindness and support over the past few months. Many were able to visit with and encourage Lyna during her last months and weeks. Her family and friends truly proved to be a “source of great comfort.”

Our hearts go out to family and friends. We have had the privilege of knowing her for many years. She was such a spiritual and loving sister. She will be remembered for her kindness and faithfulness to her God Jehovah. We will see you soon our dear Lyna!

Michael and I want to let you know how much we thought of Lyna. She was such a friendly, spiritual, practical, sweet person. We loved to hear her talk. She was kind to everyone and very humble. It was always evident that she loved her spiritual family. Her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We are very sorry for your loss. We are all awaiting the future!

I will never forget when I first moved to Newport News, one of the first people I met was Lyna Eagan and Connie Berry. They were a force of nature when it came to their love for the ministry. They immediately started picking me up for service. I had the privilege to work with Sister Eagan and I enjoyed seeing her in action. Her Bible knowledge was on point, and she had great love for Jehovah. I learned so much for Lyna in the ministry and will always treasure it. I cannot wait until the time when Lyna wakes up in the new world and she sees we have a whole new Territory to discover and continue sharing Bible truths about Jehovah.

Lyna Eagan was and will be the embodiment of a true, faithful servant of Jehovah. It was a privilege to have known her since I was a young child, and even though my family moved out of the area, whenever Sister Eagan saw me, even if it had been years, she greeted me with the same warm, cheerful smile and sunshine in her voice. I told her often how much that meant and will always mean to me. Because of her, I will never forget how important it is to show love and tenderness to everyone, but especially our young ones who come into this world anxious and overwhelmed. Eagan family, my heart aches for your temporary loss. I pray you always hold on to the promise that the joy of Donald and Lyna's return will blot out this sorrow. Love you!

Sincere condolences to all of Lyna's family. We were privileged to be in the same Cong for many years. I remember the excellent example she set....her meaningful comments and regular attendance at the meetings as well as the excellent hummingbird cake she would make for pioneer schools. One of my fondest memories was a little thing, just watching her and Donald sharing a ice cream cone on a break from service. She will be missed. To S & A especially, may Jehovah comfort your hearts through your many losses of late and know that you did your best.

To the Eagan family and friends. My Time and association with Don and Lyna was short and sweet, mostly with Lance and Shawn at the Kingdom Hall. They will be remembered as Kind and loving. May they now rest peacefully in Jehovah's memory until we see them again with perfect health.

Lyna was a wonderful grandmother, full of wisdom and grace. We will miss her so much. Her life, although long, was too short for those who truly knew and loved her.
