Margaret Ann Savell, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, in Hampton, Virginia, at the age of 85. Born on September 4, 1940, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, Margaret lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to others.
Margaret was a devoted educator, spending many years as a teacher, where she touched the lives of countless students with her passion for learning and her nurturing spirit. Her commitment to education was matched only by her love for the arts and her many hobbies, which included painting, crocheting, and singing. She was also an avid canasta player and enjoyed traveling, always eager to explore new places and cultures.
A woman of deep faith, Margaret was an active member of Langley Baptist Church. She served on the Evangelism team, nominating team, and pastor search team, and was a joyful participant in the choir. Her dedication extended beyond the church walls as she volunteered at Langley Elementary, sharing her time and talents with the younger generation.
Margaret’s academic excellence was evident from a young age, as she graduated as the valedictorian of her high school class. Her intelligence and determination were qualities that she carried throughout her life, inspiring those around her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Barney M. Savell, and her parents, John V. Nash and Gem V. Nash. Margaret is survived by her loving son, John M. Savell, and his wife Karen; her cherished granddaughters, Shelbey Ann Savell and Katelyn Marie Savell; and a host of friends and extended family who will miss her dearly.
Margaret Ann Savell will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generous heart, and her enduring legacy of love and kindness. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 6, at 11 am at Langley Baptist Church in Hampton, VA.
