Margaret Haxton McLeod Mitchell passed away quietly January 25^th 2023.  Marge was born to the late Andrew and Grace McLeod in Skelmorlie Scotland on July 7, 2025 and grew up in Chicago, Illinois.  She kept a warm and welcoming home throughout her life for her family and friends in Montevideo, Uruguay, Oak Park, Illinois, Dallas Texas, Tulsa Oklahoma, and Marlton New Jersey before retiring to Kill Devil Hills, NC where she enjoyed an active retirement with her husband James Mitchell.

Marge lost her husband Jim in 2018 after 72 years of marriage and she is survived by her children Nancy and Edward Witczak, Barbara Ashman, Bruce Mitchell and James Mitchell, Jr. as well as grandchildren Christin and Mike East, Lauren and Mike Annicchiarico, Michael and Amy Ashman, Mark Ashman, Stacy and Vincent Martino, Nathan Mitchell, Brian and Celia Mitchell, Ryan and Jen Witczak, Robin and Adam Scott and 21 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that mourners treat themselves to a good dinner in Marge’s honor, and that the next time you enjoy a cup of tea or a shortbread cookie, think of Marge with a smile.
