Marilyn Marie Rose, born on August 14, 1934, in Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, in Virginia, at the age of 91. Her life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and an unwavering zest for life that inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Marilyn spent her career as a Budget Analyst for the Army National Guard, where her meticulous nature and work ethic shone brightly. Her professional life was marked by diligence and integrity, qualities that were deeply rooted in her character as a true farm girl.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Marilyn’s heart and soul were devoted to her family. As a loving mother and grandmother, she cherished every moment with her children and grandchildren, always finding joy in their presence. Her home was a sanctuary filled with laughter, warmth, and the beauty of her beloved house plants.
Marilyn had a passion for gardening, sewing, and making quilts for her family, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and care. She was a furniture refurnishing expert, a skillful card player, and a puzzle builder extraordinaire. Known affectionately as a pool shark, she approached each game with focus and determination.
Her love for reading was rivaled only by her love for people. A true social butterfly, Marilyn made friends wherever she went, spreading kindness and joy with her infectious spirit. She never sat still, always finding “something to get done” and starting her day with a “to do list.”
Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving parents, Greta and Ray Thomas, her brother Farrel Thomas, sister Delores (Lori) Mattis, grandson Jeremy Rogers, and husband William Rose. Her memory will be cherished by her beloved daughters Janna Rose, Cheryl Rose, Lisa Young, and Ann Hadsell; her brother Jerry Thomas; her grandchildren Justin Rogers, Brandon Rogers, Haley Dawicke, Angeline Dawicke, Hunter Young, Thomas Young, Reed Hadsell, and Dylan Hadsell; and her sons-in-law Mark Codde, Dave Dawicke, Rick Young, and Doug Hadsell.
