Mary Ann O’Prandy, aged 82, peacefully passed away on November 28, 2025, in Virginia Beach, VA. Born on January 5, 1943, in Weehawken, NJ, she lived a life full of love and dedication to her family, friends, and community.

Mary Ann was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She married the love of her life, William E. O’Prandy, in 1963, and together they celebrated 62 years of marriage. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Janice Heater, Susan Fierro (Robert), and Billy O’Prandy (Donna); as well as her adored grandchildren, William Roussell (Anna), Kayla O’Prandy, Samantha O’Prandy, Cecilia Fierro, and Hannah Fierro.

Mary Ann had many nicknames: MOP, Moparosa, Mares, G-ma, Grandma and Mom. If you were lucky enough to know her, you know that she had a remedy for everything. A cream or an ointment, a hug to say it was going to be okay, a call to check in and make sure you were good, or just a text with her thumbs-up emoji of herself that she created. She was an amazing person to all of those who knew and loved her. She was the Matriarch of her family and made sure everyone got together and celebrated holidays and birthdays and always had a trick or two up her sleeve with her little gifts that she would get everyone. Her family was lucky enough to have a family vacation together almost every year since 1997. During those OBX vacations, there were so many laughs playing games and enjoying the beach and the pool and having cocktails and watching home movies. Mary Ann loved having her whole family together because family was everything to her. Christmas was her favorite time of the year and there wasn’t a Christmas Eve that went by where she didn’t make her famous lasagna for her family to enjoy together. She will be missed so much, but we know she is looking down on all of us and watching over us.

Mary Ann was retired from her work as a legal secretary and was known for her dedication and skill. She loved to travel and had recently returned from a cruise with her husband and friends. She had a passion for music and loved playing the piano. Mary Ann was an active member of the Church of the Holy Family in Virginia Beach, where she found a community of faith and friendship. Her spirit of kindness and warmth touched all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Edward Joseph and Margaret Martin. Her legacy of love and devotion will continue to live through her surviving family and friends whom she loved and adored.

May she rest in peace, eternally cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A memorial service to honor Mary Ann’s life will be held at the Church of the Holy Family located at 1279 North Great Road in Virginia Beach on Friday, December 19th at 11 a.m. The family invites you to share your fondest memories and condolences on the Virginia Cremation Society of Virginia website during this difficult time.
