Mary Ann Rogers, 70, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2023, after a long illness, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to Jack Newton Roquemore and Jean Kendall Roquemore, Mary Ann was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, where she obtained her Bachelor of Education degree. After college, Mary Ann began her lifelong career working in Special Education, where she met the love of her life, Harris “Chip” Rogers. She was a proud Norfolk Public Schools Special Education teacher for almost 40 years and loved her students dearly. Mary Ann loved being “Mimi” to her grandsons, gardening, sewing, crafting, spending time with her family, playing with her fur-grandbabies, and was always up for drinking a margarita with her girls. Her daughters will deeply miss their “sweet little mama”, as will everyone who knew and loved her.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Chip, of 42 years.
She is survived by her three daughters, Kendall (Allen), Whitney (Jayson), and Shea; grandsons, Jalen and Tyler; brother, Ken of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; sister, Lynda of Pearl River, Louisiana; and many nieces and nephews.
A private memorial to celebrate Mary Ann’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to CurePSP | https://www.psp.org/donate.
