I am so sorry that Michael has suffered through this ordeal and know that he is now at his reward with the Lord. He was a man of great strength and great faith. When Margaret was home last year and Sarah, Barbara, and Madeline came to lunch. I asked Sarah if she thought her Dad was up to making four doors for a built in corner piece in the dining room of the house that I had moved into the year before. He came over measured and said that he thought that could do the job. The doors were so lovely that I hated to put paint on them! The top has glass and he had to figure out how to make it secure for glass shelves. The bottom half are raised panel. It took a while to come up with a solution, but he did and the result gets so many compliments. From floor to ceiling it is twelve feet. I was nervous about him installing them, but we worked together and he did it! He came back to fill in some holes in my kitchen cabinets where new hardware was installed. He was going to take one door at a time and work at the house. I had not heard from him and knew things probably were not going well. Margaret found out from Sarah's postings that this was the case. It made me so sad. We had talked about his cancer and my husband's cancer as well. The wound on his side that would not heal was awful for him, but he kept on going. I first met him when he agreed to ride on the roller coaster at King's Dominion behind me. I never ride on them! He was a good sport and was always doing things for all of his girls. I had heard way back that he was a fantastic cabinetmaker. I am so glad that I have some of his work that I look at everyday. It makes me think of him and his family who were a great joy to him. His love of the Lord was evident in how he treated all children of God. Jeanann and Sarah you have been heavy on my heart. May the Peace of the Lord be with you and all of your family now and forever. With Much Love, Liz

The entire Konya family is remarkable. Michael and Jeanann truly walked, talked, and shared the loved of Christ with everyone. I especially remember his great sense of humor and the outstanding way he took big christian concepts and taught them to the children at NCS chapels in a way they would understand and remember. Everyone looked forward to his Chapels. Thank you for sharing him with so many. He has earned “Well done!” In heaven. He will be missed so much!

Michael & Jeanann were my nextdoor neighbors for nearly 20 years...and great neighbors they were. Michael & Jeanann are the reason I returned to the Lord after being away from the Church for almost 40 years. They were so persistent, they came over one day & put a cross in oil on my front door. They would come over & sit and talk to me about the Lord. I remember when Sarah was born & seeing the "It's a Girl" sign between our townhouses. Michael built a huge cross, which was placed near the street between our houses. After the Kodyas moved, someone was swinging on the cross & broke it. Inspired by Michael, I built a new cross, where I put a photo of Christ & new messages each day. That cross is now in front of my home in PA, where everyone driving by can see the messages. I remember Michael in the driveway, trying to capture an Iguana, which he caught & returned to a neighbor who owned the iguana. I fondly remember hearing Michael sneeze in the morning & laughing as I got ready for work. I remember the outreaches Michael, Jeanann and the girls held in their driveway on a regular basis. How Michael would get food from various stores, and people in need would stop by and get what they needed & hear about Jesus. I remember finally going to Freedom Fellowship on Easter Sunday, 2004, where I sat with the Kodya family & ended up getting baptized in the Atlantic Ocean, with the Kodya family watching from the Beach. I remember giving my 91 Buick Regal to the Kodyas when I got a new SUV, and Sarah getting hit going to school with Melanie, and bye bye Buick Regal, haha. I fondly remember standing on the lower board on my fence, sticking my head over the top of the fence, and saying "Hidy Ho, Neighbor" to Michael just like Tim Allen & Wilson. Even when the Kodyas moved to where they currently live, they invited me to holiday meals & special occasions. Michael would often call me just to talk. I remember their first dog, Shadow, who would dig and stick his nose under the gate between our townhouses to say hello to my dog, Maggie. I remember Elizabeth getting under my dining room table to play with Maggie, who was trying to get away from the girls & Maggie nipped Elizabeth on the cheek. I remember taking family photos of the Kodya family before they moved & me crying the day they moved. Yes, Michael, Jeanann & the 3 girls were the best neighbors I ever had & wonderful friends. When I needed work done in my house or yard, I would call Michael. If Michael got weak, Sarah would come & finish the work. So many wonderful memories of each of the Kodya family members. I am thankful that Michael let go & that the Lord called him home on 11/3 and that Jeanann was there with him. I'm sorry I am 500 miles away in PA & unable to be there for Michael's Celebration of Life service, but I will be there in my heart. Blessings, Peace & Love to Jeanann, Sarah, Melanie, Elizabeth and to Michael's 4 grandchildren. My love also goes to Mary, Marla and Michael's other sisters & brothers & family - Linda
