Nan Tower Reynolds, 89, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, died peacefully at home on December 23, 2025.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Nan grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in nursing. After graduation, she moved to Michigan, where she and her husband raised their family. She later earned a master’s degree in social work and served as Director of Counseling at Brighton Hospital, creating a Family and Friends Program to support those affected by addiction. She retired at age 70 and moved to Virginia Beach. The first thing she did in retirement was write a book to help families navigate addiction.
Nan cherished time with her grandchildren and started a Family and Friends support group at Spring Branch Community Church. She loved the ocean, reading, baking, and being present for the people she loved.
She is survived by three children — Dale Hudler, William Hudler, and Deb Holroyd (Tim) — and seven grandchildren: Tate and Cole Hudler, Samuel and Maddie Hudler, Charlie Prince, and Gracie and Rachel Holroyd. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Frank Reynolds, and her son, Fred Hudler.
A service will be held at Spring Branch Community Church on January 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Homestead Recovery in Boone, NC (homesteadrecoverync.org/donate).
